Featured Film Maker: GINO SANTOS

sdatalent:

Gino M. Santos, a 22 year old AB-FILM  of SDA, has shown much interest on films at such an early age. For a 108, he sure shows knowledge and skill that are beyond his years. He is the first ever Benildean Student who’s been included in the official selection in the 2011 Cinemalaya Film Festival with his short feature film, “Every Other Time”. That itself is a big achievement already yet he is still widely known for many more awards and recognition. He has been included in the Best of Benilde 2010 & 2011.

For his talent and skill, he has already attended workshops at New York Film Academy in Kyoto Japan, the Marilou Diaz-Abaya Film and Arts Center, and the Asia Pacific Film Institute.  Gino was chosen to represent the Philippines in the MPA-CICE workshop to be held in Beijing, China this December 2011 together with 12 representatives around South East Asia. He has also worked under ‘62nd Cannes Best Film Director’ Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s mentorship program in the international film ‘Captive’ coming out in 2012.

Take a dose of inspiration from Gino Santos himself by watching our interview with with him. Hearing him talk was pretty much of a strong push to innovate any aspiring artist and film maker. Gino himself advises, “Don’t expect everyone to like your work. Maybe it’s not for them or it’s not for you but definitely its not suppose to pull you down, it’s suppose to make you a better person.”

Kimpoi Tecson Lazaro Demo Reel 2011 vr.1

Featured Stylist/Blogger: Gelo Arucan

sdatalent:

It’s a fact that Gelo Arucan is not just your typical college kid; this 21 year- old 108 AB-FILM Major, has definitely proved how versatile he can be with his exceptional talent with styling & fashion. For someone his age, he sure has the credibility of someone far beyond his years. With his social skills and diverse personality its impossible for success and opportunities not to open up for him. It quite a feat for what success Fabgelous has already achieved that most of us could only dream about.

He has already worked with a number of names from the fashion industry such as Eric Poliquit, Myrrh Lao To, Pauline Prietto, Solenn Heussaff, Enzo Mondejar, and he has worked on a campaign for Ballet Philippines

Because of his interest and skill, he created a blog FABGELOUS that is already widely known to the public. His blog possess funny declamations, a narration of his experiences, pictures of his works, styling advises, fashion tips and many more. It’s filled with persona and entertaining content that just makes you visit it every now and then. It’s no doubt that Gelo definitely stands out with his daring personality and confidence.

Gelo Arucan’s Style & Blog Tips:

1. Know your favorite things and incorporate it in your outfits so it reflects something about yourself.

2. Its okay to repeat clothes but never outfits. so keep on recycling your clothes. If you have a favorite shirt go ahead, mix and match it with other pieces so in that way you save money and you still have tons of clothes to mix and match.

3, Write whatever you want to write and don’t care about anything else. Your Blog is suppose to be you; just care about yourself and don’t mind what others might think.

4. Be Yourself. Your obligation to yourself is to be yourself; dress whatever you want. Don’t follow trends; if everyone else is wearing Doc Marten’s but you love wearing Chuck Taylors then go ahead and wear your Chucks. You should always make yourself shine.

Visit Gelo’s online styling portfolio at http://fabgelous.livejournal.com/ and be impressed. Meanwhile, here are some of his styling works in which he collaborated with several other talented artists in the industry.

What’s impressing about his way of styling is that it’s not the usual and safe ideas, but he conceptualizes and delivers his work to the extremes. He is a risk taker and its not a question why or how people can’t be stunned with his skill.

Get a glimpse of Gelo Arucan’s fun, bubbly and entertaining personality with our interview.
